Tattooed Under Fire

Tattooed Under Fire

Young US soldiers on their way to and returning from Iraq go under the tattoo needle in Fort Hood Texas, sharing their secrets and confessing their fears. “A sensitive and heartbreaking journey into the psychological casualties of war.” Richard Linklater

Their tattoos cross lines of gender, class, and politics, revealing their inner lives as they live through the horrors of the Iraq war.The film captures the early expectations and excitement of 18 and 20 year olds,  their later cynicism and anger and, as they complete their tour of duty,  the psychological aftermath. Each soldier’s story is an evocative, poignant, and highly personal look at the human and cultural cost of war.
